Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 17:59

Wedmore Theatre Club is presenting Deadly Nightcap by Francis Durbridge at the village hall from Thursday, November 27, to Saturday, November 29.

Francis Durbridge is perhaps best known for his creation the detective Paul Temple, but here Inspector Cliff Jordan has the task of unravelling the machinations of the plot.

After the death of her parents, Sarah Radford and her brother, Edward Donnington inherit their estate agent business, Donningtons.

However, with her scheming husband Jack Radford managing the business everything does not go to plan.

When Edward Donnington returns from Spain, a confrontation occurs between him and Jack, who is suspected of dodgy dealings by Edward.

Jack finds a way to keep Edward quiet and then begins plotting against his wife, with the help of his girlfriend Anna.

He tries to make her believe she is going mad, and therefore to make her death look like suicide, but his plan goes horribly wrong.

A body is discovered and it is down to Inspector Jordan to fight his way through the red herrings, twists and turns because almost everyone seems to have a motive. Who is the real killer?

Tickets for the show which starts at 7.30pm are £8, concessions £6, available from the Paper Shop in Wedmore, or from Jendy Weekes on 01278 641370.
